What you need to know about your Massage Gun

Unless you've been living under a rock, you've seen, heard, or have a Massage gun, but what is it exactly? These Therapeutic Machines have been used for years to treat chronic pain, like frozen shoulder. Theyre used in Massage rooms, Chriropractic clinics, Doctor offices, Medical facilities, and in many homes as a self-care tool. Once you've tried it you will understand why.

There are many different Massage guns out there, all of them use percussion (rapid pulsing) to reduce stiffness, pain, soreness, and tenderness. I have personally used 4 different percussion gun tools. The Hypervolt however, is hands down my favorite. This specific model delivers 3,400 percussions per minute. Roughly doing what takes me 30 minutes to do as a Massage Therapist, in as little as 5 minutes! Rapid tension relief, at your fingertips, and it can be used on any part of your body!

I am not a paid sponsor of this product! I just love it that much. As a self-care tool, this is my go to. If I cannot schedule a massage, you can bet I'm using the hypervolt to relieve my sore muscles. If you have even just a little understanding about muscles, muscle fibers, you gain the most out of your tool. As a general rule you would like to avoid bony structures, do whatever feels good, and stop use immediately if you feel any discomfort or pain.

Contraindications:

Please do not use the Hypervolt, or any percussion device without first obtaining approval from your physician if any of the following apply:

Pregnancy, diabetes with complications such as neuropathy or retinal damage, wear of pacemakers, recent surgery or injury, epilepsy or migraines, herniated disks, spondylolisthesis, spondylolysis, or spondylosis, recent joint replacements, metal pins or plates or any concerns about your physical health. That's to not to say you cannot use it, just that you should speak to your primary care physician first.

Here are a 3 techniques you can use with your new Hypervolt.

1. Cross-fiber friction, this technique goes across the muscle fibers. An example is going up and down the space between your shoulder blades, and spine. The muscles targeted here, are your rhomboids, which is a common problem for people who work at a desk, hunched over, or anyone with young kids, as you're always looking down.

2. Fiber friction, is another technique you can use. Which goes the length of the muscle. Say, going up and down the entire length of the spine, on either side. The muscles targeted here are your erectors, this really soothes those who have chronic back pain.

3. This tool is also good to do pressure point with. Pressure point is when you hold the tool on a spot. That stubborn knot at the base of your neck, that's the one I'm talking about. While you hold it there you can even tilt your head away, ear to shoulder. From that position you can tilt forward, or backwards; getting the whole muscle, do whatever feels best.

Side Notes and tips: the hypervolt has a button for speed level, you do not need to push the machine into the body to add more pressure. If you want more, try instead to increase the speed. The machine should rest on the body, the weight of the machine is pressure enough. Bruising or pain can occure otherwise.

It is best to have your spouse or friend use the Hypervolt on you, especially for those hard to reach spots. You will still get so much out of this investment without a partner.

Maintain a relaxed posture whenever you're using the massage gun. As in, do not tense up the area you're working on. This gives the best results.

There are other Massage guns out there, and to be honest they are very much the same. I own one thats $40, and it runs just as good as my hypervolt, with similar attachments and speed. The hypervolt is mostly used in the Medical facilities because of how quiet it is. Other massage guns are just LOUD, but that shouldnt be your decision factor. The hypervolt is also very reliable and holds a charge much longer than their cheaper counter parts.

That's all I have for today! If you have your own hypervolt, I hope these tips help you. If you're thinking about buying a hypervolt, I encourage you to test one out before you purchase, by scheduling a massage with a Liscenced Therapist who has one! I got mine mine on Amazon, at a great price! This machine is so worth the investment you're adding to your wellness plan.
